Hans D. Ochs, MD, is professor of pediatrics and the Jeffrey Modell Chair of pediatric immunology research at Seattle Children’s Hospital Research Institute. He maintains hospital positions at Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center, the University of Washington (UW) Medical Center, and Harborview Medical Center. Dr. Ochs graduated from the University of Freiburg (Germany) with a degree and doctorate in medicine and held post-graduate positions at Children’s Hospital in Honolulu and the University of Tübingen (Germany).

Dr. Ochs is licensed to practice medicine in the state of Washington and in Germany. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, and the Pediatric Board (Germany). Dr. Ochs’ professional organizations include the American Association of Immunologists, the American Federation for Clinical Research, the Society for Pediatric Research, the Clinical Immunology Society, the American Pediatric Society, and the Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies. He serves on committees for the Immune Deficiency Foundation, the Jeffrey Modell Foundation, the US Immunodeficiency Network (USID Net), and the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS). Dr. Ochs is a founding member of the USID Net/Clinical Immunology Society (CIS) Annual Summer School and is on the editorial board of Tohoku Journal of Experimental Medicine and Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences.

Dr. Ochs is the author of over 400 articles. In 2007, Oxford University Press published the second edition the book he co-authored, Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases: A Molecular and Genetic Approach.
